One enjoys his day to day living if he is fit and healthy. Being able to move lightly without the bulges, high blood pressure, anemia, and other health complaints can give you that confident feeling. All of these can be attained if you’re fit and healthy.

Aside from your regular exercises your eating habit is a factor in determining your fitness and health. With the presence of different eye-pleasing and mouth-watering foods at home, in ads, television food fad shows, and other print media we are always surrounded by food temptations. However, there are choices and sacrifices to make if you want to enjoy life fully. The following simple tips will guide you on what to eat to stay fit and healthy:

1. Eat foods low in carbohydrates, fat, and sugar. The key word here is LOW. Unless you are on a medically special diet, you cannot have a zero diet on these food types. Your body needs it.

2. Foods rich in fiber are a must. Aside from helping in digestion, it prevents colon cancer.

3. Choose richly colored fruits and vegetables in yellow or orange for an assurance of anti-oxidant contents.

4. The elementary lesson of “Eat green leafy vegetables” is still a part of our adult life. Choose those with firm leaves with no yellowish tinge of wilting.

5. Grain foods are also rich in fiber and are good appetite suppressants. Eating cereal s and oatmeal easily makes you full. Be careful with legumes, though, and do not eat it excessively.

6. Take non-fat milk and other non-dairy products. This gives you the benefits of milk without the fats you do not want to store in your body.

7. Fruits should be a part of your intake and that means daily.

8. The juicy part of your diet is when you have that all-natural juice drink daily. It easily absorbs into your system and you’ll notice its effect on your well-being even right after you have drank it. Having it without sugar is advisable.

9. Choose fish low in oil content. Fish is best cooked without frying as frying is the best way of destroying its nutrients.

10. Eat lean meat. Cook pork with its fatty part removed. The same for chicken, its skin should be removed when cooking.

These are just the simple and basic tips on what to eat to stay fit and healthy. Though it may take time to see it, it is worth the choices and sacrifice.
